Vote by mail in 2026

The Mercer County Clerk’s Office is mailing ballots to voters on the permanent vote-by-mail list. You may still apply to vote by mail. We will closely monitor any legal developments and make necessary changes in line with applicable law and New Jersey State guidance.

Important: If you have not received your vote-by-mail ballot, contact the Office of the Mercer County Clerk to apply for a duplicate ballot. Email Mercervotes@mercercounty.org or call 609-989-6494, so we can make arrangements to hand-deliver or overnight mail your ballot to you.

When you return your ballot, we encourage you to use a Mercer County drop box for a direct pick-up by the Board of Elections.

Welcome letter from Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello

Thank you for visiting the Mercer County Clerk’s website! Please explore this website to learn about the many services offered by the Mercer County Clerk’s Office. We also provide a number of forms to obtain these services and QR codes.

The County Clerk’s Office offers a broad range of services that Mercer residents and businesses use every day. It is the Clerk’s Office that files and records all documents concerning real estate ownership and transfer; registers small business trade names; accepts U.S. passport applications; processes and issues County and Veteran identification cards; and swears in notary public applicants. We also have certain election responsibilities.

Early in my administration, we also began offering photos for people seeking passports and began offering extended hours for passports in two locations: our Trenton office and the Mercer County Connection office in Hamilton Township. We also visit various municipalities throughout Mercer County to bring services directly to residents on special outreach dates.

The County Clerk also has certain election responsibilities, including the printing of ballots, counting of votes cast by electronic machines and the issuance of vote-by-mail ballots. In fact, we post election results for you on this website. Lastly, we maintain a public records room where title searchers and members of the public can view a property’s history. Much of this information has also been digitized under my time in office and can be viewed on one of two search sites by registering with us (see above). Because Mercer County is rich in American history, you may find some exciting information about local properties. This year, in celebration of our Nation’s 250th Anniversary, come visit our case containing the deeds of famous Mercer County residents.

Please stop by and see how the Mercer County Clerk’s Office can be of service to you! We are located at 209 South Broad Street in Trenton. My staff and I are here to serve you. Our top priority is that you, Mercer County residents and businesses, receive what you pay for in excellent government service.

Best wishes,
Paula Sollami Covello, Mercer County Clerk
